…..the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
Ezekiel 18:4
The nation of Israel harbored the thoughts and expressed the idea that their predicaments came about as a result of the sins of their fore parents. Their claims were that the Lord God had promised to punish children to the third and fourth generations.
It was quite convenient for the people Israel to twist the commandments to suit their situation because they willingly ignored the sections of the commandments that declared that the Lord God was slow to anger, forgiving and compassionate. The people of Israel harbored the thought that they may as well continue sinning because the Lord God would punish them anyway. The nation of Israel took the issue further and condemned children by declaring that the children were condemned because of the sins their fathers committed. The claim was that the Lord God punishes the children for the sins of their parents.
The Lord God corrected these thoughts and ideas by declaring that all souls belonged to him and every man was punished for his own sins. Children had the option of choosing not to follow in their parents footsteps. The Lord God declared that he did not punish children for their parent’s sin or parents for their children’s sins. The wicked man who repents will live and the righteous man who does evil will die. Every man is punished for his own sin and everyone who sins shall die.

Something to think about: The righteous man’s righteousness is erased the day that he sins and the wicked man’s evil is erased the day he repents.
